With sufficient subsoil water reserves from a wet winter, our vines, with roots already deep enough, did not suffer from the drought throughout the spring and early summer of 2018. Shoots started growing in the first week of April, with some 20-mm rain on 20th May further helping the process. In mid-summer, there was just enough rain for the berries to grow and then ripen, which allowed us to harvest healthy, juicy and phenologically ripe grapes at the end of the summer. The crop from this early harvest provided the basis for this wine. The Egy is Furmint 2018 was the very first wine we bottled in 2019.

A little dry Furmint is what the name of this wine means. Egy kis is the ‘prefix’ for our second brand under which we offer wines that are aimed at the ‘beginner wine drinkers’ who are looking for high-quality, yet easy-to-love, fruity and fresh entry-level wines that can open the door to wine connoisseurship.
